Children's Day is celebrated in India to raise awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children. It is celebrated on 14th November every year, in lieu of the birthday of the first Prime Minister of India - Jawaharlal Nehru, who was known to have been fond of children. On this day, many educational and motivational programs for children are held all over India.
A Memorable Children’s Day at The
Leela Ambience
It was a great privilege for our Shaktis to be invited by The Leela Ambience Hotel, Gurgaon on this occasion . Children’s Day was celebrated with a lot of joy and energy . Usually the senior Shaktis go for performances, but this time the Junior Shaktis from Gurgaon and Vasant Kunj center got a chance to display their learnings on such a beautiful platform live. They showcased their talents by performing yoga and classical dances like Bharatnatyam and Kathak.
It was the first big stage for many of our girls, where they gave a speech and performed on beautiful pieces like Paani and Ai giri Nandini. This event helped the Shaktis boost their confidence and believe in themselves. Coming from a marginalized background, this experience at such a big place made them aware of their talent. They felt valued and appreciated in this event.
Apart from the performances, The Leela Ambience also arranged for a drawing competition for them. The Shaktis participated in it with great enthusiasm. The Leela Ambience served them delicious food afterwards, specially prepared for the occasion of Children’s Day. The girls had a really good time and the happiness was reflected on their innocent beautiful faces. We are very grateful to The Leela Ambience for organizing this beautiful event and supporting and encouraging them.
Indeed this was one of the most memorable Children’s Day for these junior Shaktis, which they will cherish all their life.
Fostering Love: Sarvam Foundation’s Special Children’s Day Celebration
After the Leela Celebration, we also celebrated Children’s Day at Sarvam Foundation with all the Shaktis.
The event kicked off from a poster making competition, where all the girls took part with great energy. The girls expressed their inner creativity and made beautiful pieces. After this, a talent show was organized where they displayed their talent. Various performances were there - ranging from Dancing and Singing to Yoga and poem recitation. Winners were selected from each category and were given Cash prizes. Chocolates and drinks, given as kind donations to the girls were also distributed to everyone.
To make the Shaktis feel even more special, Sarvam Foundation distributed personalized cards to them along with chocolates as a symbol of love. All the Shaktis were very much excited and whole heartedly engaged in all the activities. It brought beautiful smiles on their faces. This day became a memorable one for all of the girls present there for the celebration.
At Sarvam, we make sure that every girl is made to feel valued and worthy, that they will always have a safe place to come to.
